:: JAKAR DZONG
The dzong built on a ridge overlooks the valley. Inside the dzong there still remains the tunnel which was used to fetch water during the war. It is believed that Lam Ngagi Wangchuk had chosen a site for the construction of a dzong in the lower valley of chokor and while performing a ritual, a while bird flew out of the site and landed on the place where the current JAKAR bzong is built. Considering this is an auspicious sign, a small dzong was built and named JAKAR
JA means bird and KAR means white. later in 1646, Choegyal Minjur Tempa enlarged the dzong
:: JAMPEY LHAKHANG
This is also one of the 108 temples built by the Tibetian king Songtsen Gaampo on the same day as PARO's KICHU LHAKHANG. The temple hosts Guru Joyo Jampa, the future Buddha as its main statue. One of the most sacred festivals with the naked dancers takes place here every year.
Songtsen Gampo was said to have magically multiplied himself and to have sent all of his emanations into the various areas of Tibet so as to erect 108 temples in one day. Towering over the heart of the demon there is the famous Jokhang-Temple in Lhasa /Tibet). The demon’s left knee is held by the JAMPEY Lhakhang of Bumthang and her left sole is fixed by the KYICHU Lhakhang in Paro
:: KURJEY LHAKHANG
The name kurjey translates into kur means body and jey means print. Guru Rimpoche has left his body print on a rock inside the main, old KURJEY lhakhang. The big cypress tree is believed to be the walking stik of Guru Rimpoche.
The great Guru Rimpoche also created a holy water hole beside the temple which people frequent either for religious or medical purposes
